*Another way you can help is to get involved and send a letter to your Senator or Representative. We are starting now to build support for the 2009 Legislative session. We need your help to raise awareness with our Polaticians that we want to be safe on our Lakes. Below is a link that will down load a form letter that you can use to easily send off to your local Senator or Representative. In Texas, you can go to www.senate.state.tx.us , click on Senators, then Who Represents me?, enter your zip code, and you will obtain all the info for each Politician in your area. You can also click on their name and email them directly if you choose not to use the form letter attached to this link. www.brittenylindt.com/uploads/File/Letter to Political Rep_on water safety.doc .
May 2009 - Another bill passed into law, as an act for a study of the recreational boating industry. This study will be conducted by a nine person pannel through 2010. At the end of 2010, this pannel, appointed by the Governor, Lt. Governor, and Speaker of the House, will make recommendations to the Texas Legislature for new and improved watercfaft safety laws. Both Tim Lindt and Scott Gordon have been appointed to this important pannel of nine Texas residents.
3-11-08 the Britteny Sage Lindt Fund unveiled the partnership with Professional Angler, Helen Gordon (www.helen-gordon.com), and the American Bass Anglers tour (www.dfwaba.com). This program will enable the cause and message of the Britteny Sage Lindt Fund to enter a national arena. Thank you Scott and Helen Gordon! Please click on the following link to see a picture of Helen Gordon's truck & boat. http://www.helen-gordon.com or http://www.cbs11tv.com:80/local/Britteny.Sage.Lindt.2.675062.html to see the recent news video. There are over 50 Million Fishermen and women in the USA. With this partnership we will reach millions of people across the United States.
In Jan. 2007, 2 scholarships in Britteny's name, were set up for Marcus High school students. In Jan. 2008 we funded a third scholarship available for all of LISD.
The week of 3-26-07, 4 bills were presented to the Legislature to improve water safety. 3 of the 4 passed through the Senate. Those same 3 bills passed through the House of representatives committy hearings, but only one was voted on the House floor because of time challenges, thus only one bill was signed into Texas state law. If all 4 of these bills would have passed, statistically, the number of boating accidents would decrease by 70% within the next 6 years, in Texas.
On 4-9-07 the Britteny Sage Lindt Fund donated a 21 ft. Sea Ray boat to the Parks & Wildlife for their "Nobody's Waterproof" campaign which will travel the state raising awareness of boating safety.
Texas Parks & Wildlife increased the patrol boats on Lake Lewisville from 1, up to 5 patrol boats for the 2007 season.
There is much more to do, and many lives yet to save. Please know that your donations go to a proactive cause to make a difference in our society and to protect the future of our state and country, our children.
If you do send a letter to one of our Polaticians, please let me know by emailing me a quick note of who you contacted @ tim@brittenylindt.com so I can record who has been contacted and keep track of this needed info. for the 2009 Legislative session.
